Prayer Challenge

We have some awesome opportunities before us as a church. We are planning to be blessing to a group of Haitian pastors by providing pastoral trauma counseling training in conjunction with Dr. Phil Henry. We are planning to be a blessing to Indonesia working with our worship leader Onil Rodriguez. Perhaps our greatest challenge, however, is to balance our giving and expenses here in our church.

Currently, we require the budget o be supplemented by reserves. Though baptisms, attendance, and giving continue to increase month by month we still require at least a $75,000 increase in giving this year even with a budget that increases little over last year.

I am asking each one of us to take the following prayer challenge each day motivated by love for Jesus. Ask God to give you the answers to following questions:

Who do I need to tell about Jesus and the church?

What do I need to need to give?

What do I need to do?

I am convinced that God uses finances to change behavior. A increase in attendance to 250 in worship and increase in per capita giving of 15% would easily allow us to become financially sound and to move confidently into the future. Our responsibility is to make ourselves available for God’s use. God only limits Himself by our willingness to be used. I am excited about what He is doing here through this awesome group of believers.

Training Haitian Pastors to Deal with the Disaster

Pastors in Haiti are dealing with what may turn out to be worst disaster in human history. We have the opportunity as a church to help train them to help people process this horrible loss in light of Jesus Christ.

Final planning is under way for me to lead a small team to Haiti in late April. This team will include our former interim pastor, Dr. Phil Henry, and Pastor Jean Moise of the Palm Lakes Baptist Association. Dr. Henry will be leading grief counseling training for the 27 pastors we have worked with in the past. Pastor Moise is our connection to these pastors and he will translate and be our guide. Our goal is to train these front line servants to be a blessing to the people of Haiti in the midst of disaster.

Consider being a part of this trip by giving to the Haitian Pastors Relief Fund here at First Baptist Church of Delray Beach.

Ways you can help:

•  Pray for the people in Haiti

•  Give to the Haitian Pastors Relief

   Fund

•  Give to the Baptist Global Response

The Gospel of John

I am very excited about beginning a new sermon series on the Gospel of John. This is the book many new believers are directed to read first. It’s portrayal of Jesus comes the eyes of the follower he was closest to. My prayer or these months of study is that we as a church would become so passionate about Jesus that our entire community is impacted.

The first four message series begins this Sunday and is titled “God Speaks so We can Understand.” To maximize the riches of this study I encourage you each week to read the passage prior to coming to worship.
