The Divine Vacuum Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” (Genesis 2:23 ESV) Adam had a need. Adam was incomplete. We are wired to fill the holes and to plug the gaps. A perceived need drives us to move to fill it and quickly. God uses these needs as a means of attracting us to Him. Our problem is that we usually seek the quickest provision dining on fast food that’s close rather than traveling an extra mile or two enjoy fine food.
God allows
the vacuum so we can know Him as the one who fills and
provides perfectly. The question is do I trust His
provision as being best. We often think we know what is best
and beg God to provide it. In fact, we cannot find happiness
until He does. We have to get to the place where we
genuinely want what he wants us to have more than what we
can see. This is faith. for we walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV) This place of spiritual contentment is not having all of our perceived need met. The place of spiritual contentment is trusting God to deliver what is best and positioning yourself to receive it. When you experience need it is a signal to get ready for God to do something important and often unexpected. Avoid the urge to head for the fast food. Be willing to be hungry until he provides. Do everything He has told you do and you will be in position to receive His best. Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! (Psalms 27:14 ESV) |
